Bridging Parametric Design and Craftsmanship
Elena Vazquez, Julio Diarte, Benay Benay Gürsoy
Today, non-standardized brick masonry surfaces can be de-signed using parametric design tools, and materialized with the help of automated fabrication protocols. These automated machinery, however, are not widely accessible, especially in developing countries where manual labor, local materials and conventional methods are preferred. This paper presents a case study where we revisit existing materializa-tion strategies and propose new ones to construct complex masonry sur-faces.
